I created this map in 20?? when a typhoon was sweeping across The Philippines causing tremendous destruction. Most people in the world had no idea at all where this devastation was happening.

In 2001 I had a few days on Sibuyan reviewing a NIPAP project. It was a very pleasant place with very pleasant people.
The only way back to Manila was using a terrible ferry. I had an upper steel bunk on deck, and the toilets were blocked
and unblievably foul. The outward journey was the opposite. The ferry was an ex-Isle of Man Steam Packet ferry and was great.
